Gandhinagar: Tearing into the Congress in poll-bound Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the Grand old Party has always given secondary treatment to Gujarat.
Addressing the party workers, Modi said that the BJP has served Nehrus vision of India better than the Congress. In his speech, he also praised BJP chief Amit Shah for winning several elections for the party. Speaking in Gujarati, the PM defended GST, saying that all parties decided on it. He said the Congress has no right to criticize it now.
The prime minister said that BJP challenges the opposition to fight the elections on the basis of development.
He said that Congress tried to put him in jail. He said it arrested Amit Shah to get him arrested.
Modi said that it was Sardar Patel who conceived the Narmada dam, that is why the Congress never let it become a reality.
"The Congress has insulted heroes who served the nation. The Congress has never focused on service," the PM said.
"The (Congress) party that gave so many leaders to the nation now focus only on spreading lies. They create an atmosphere of pessimism," he added.
"The BJP has served Nehrus vision of India better than Congress," Modi quipped.
The opposition had stopped expecting to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections after the result of UP assembly polls, PM Modi said, speaking in Hindi.
Modi said that while on one side there are parties that are dynastic in nature, BJP is a cadre-based party.
The PM said that the BJP workers in Gujarat suffered when the Congress was in power. "Politics of ‘vikas’ will win over dynasty politics," PM Modi stated in Gandhinagar.
