CCEO to make Noida a better place to live in; to spend Rs. 651 crores

NOIDA: Noida Authority Chairman and CEO (CCEO) Alok Tandon on Monday said that a total of Rs 651 crore will be spent in this financial year 2017-18 towards making the city a better place for citizens to live in. Holding a meeting of his team of officials, he has directed that the money be spent on resurfacing roads, maintenance of drains, construction of community centers and putting into place street lights.
According to Noida Authority officials, the move comes following repeated complaints from residents about the pathetic state of road storm water drains and lack of community centers for the needs of the public. "We have got an in-principle approval from the CCEO to carry out the repair and maintenance works in the city," said H.S Yadav, Chief Project Engineer (CPE), Noida Authority. "A survey was carried out by all the ten work circle project engineers. They identified the areas, which need to be addressed including resurfacing of roads. This was informed to the CCEO, who has given us the go ahead," said Yadav.
Yadav further said that a total of 472 works across the sectors of the city will be carried out. "We will soon initiate make out estimates and then float tenders for the works to be carried out," he told TOI. "While 133 works of resurfacing and repairs of roads will be carried out in 82 sectors, all roads which are four years old or older will be tackled at a cost of Rs 308 crores. For repairing, constructing and maintenance of drains, community centers and village development, we will tackle 106 works at a cost of Rs 154 crores. Rs 189 crores will be spent on repairs related with electrification and street lights in the city," he added.
