THANE: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has assured of continued action against commercial and entertainment establishments in Kothari compound after initiating a drive on Friday against six units reportedly flouting municipal norms.
The action that was taken minutes ahead of the general body meeting scheduled raised eyebrows among activists who suspect the same to be an eyewash. Nearly six units, including eating houses and furniture showrooms, were partially demolished with the anti encroachment team claiming of various illegalities committed by these units.
"These units didn't alert the TMC while undertaking changes in the original structure and also failed to get mandatory safety nods," said an official.
Ashok Burpulle, in charge of the anti encroachment department clarified they will sustain the drive throughout and will spare none.
