As mentioned by Android Community in a report, since the Sony Xperia Touch projector runs on Android, it could double up as a tablet substitute, provided the users have an empty flat surface like a wall to project on. Based on Sony's take on it, it has been made to cater to viewing multimedia, browsing or updating content on social networks or making video calls using its 13 MP camera.

The Xperia Touch in itself is compact with dimensions of 5.6 x 5.5 x 2.7 inches but is capable of projecting a 23-inch virtual touchscreen which extends to an 80-inch projection depending on requirements. The projection is done at a resolution of 1366 x 768 and a maximum brightness of 100 lumens and contrast levels of 4000:1.

The report states that the Xperia Touch projector also adds a sensor inside the projector which lets it turn on when one enters the room. It also lets users view the calendar and take a look at messages among other few things.

The Xperia Touch is a short throw projector but commands a premium price because of the sensors packed into such a small form factor.

The Sony projector will be available on Amazon.com as well as at select Sony and T-Mobile retail outlets across the US.
