PM Modi, Shah to address 7 lakh BJP workers at mega Gujarat rally
PM Narendra Modi will address more than seven lakh BJP workers today in Gujarat, where assembly elections will be held by the end of this year. The BJP, which has been in power in the state for two decades, hopes to win a record fifth time. PM Narendra Modi will join the Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan, which marks the conclusion of partys' GujaratGaurav Yatra' (March for Honour), launched on October 1. This comes after the successful culmination of the 2 Gujarat Gaurav Yatras.

All political parties are involved in addressing large rallies months before the state goes into polling at the end of this year. Once the dates are announced, political parties and the government are not allowed to announce sops and schemes to woo voters under the Model Code of Conduct.

Gujarat Gaurav Yatras covered almost 4500 kms & 149 Assembly seats. People of all age groups & from all sections of society joined the Yatra. The yatra managed to strike a chord with the residents of the state, as it raised multiple issues which people could easily relate to.

PM Narendra Modi in his tweet said "I bow to the people of Gujarat for blessing BJP for decades. We will always fulfil the dreams of every Gujarati with full strength & vigour". He also said that the ongoing Gujarat Gaurav Yatras showcased the spirit of Jan Shakti & reflected Gujarat's strong faith in politics of development & good governance.

BJP state chief Jitu Vaghani said, "PM Modi, Amit Shah, CM Vijay Rupani, and deputy CM Nitin Patel will address the country's largest party gathering in Ahmedabad on October 16. This will not only be historical in the context of Gujarat but also in the context of the country."

Today's rally is likely to be the last, before the election commission formally announces the dates for the state poll. The Election Commission has already announced the dates for polls in Himachal Pradesh

The EC expressed that the delay in announcing the Gujarat dates was to ensure the state did not have to endure a long period under the model code of conduct.
