Coimbatore I-T officer goes missing after quarrel with wife

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore police have launched a search for a 38-year-old income tax deputy commissioner who left his home in the early hours of Friday after a quarrel with his wife.
Police identified the missing I-T officer as S Sivakumar, a 2008 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer.
He was living with his wife, Sridevi, and two children in an apartment at Gowthamapuri near Cheran Maa Nagar.
There was a misunderstanding between Sivakumar and Sridevi. On Thursday night, the couple fought with each other. One of their relatives intervened and advised them not to fight. Later, the couple went to sleep.
Around 1.30am on Friday, Sivakumar left home. In the morning, Sridevi found him missing and alerted her relatives. They searched for him, but in vain. Sivakumar had left his mobile, debit and credit cards and all electronic gadgets at home.
Footages from the CCTV cameras in the area showed him leaving the apartment wearing pants and shirt and carrying a small bag.
Based on a complaint filed by a family member, the Peelamedu police registered a man missing case on Monday. Four special teams were formed to trace him.
The police approached the income tax department to know more details about him and the types of I-T cases he was handling.
Sivakumar's father Senbagaraman, who is a retired IPS officer, is living in Chennai.
