Call for educational institutions bandh tomorrow

Leaders of various students’ unions questioned officials why post-mortem on Sri Chaitanya College student Bhargava Reddy’s body was conducted during night hours on Friday.

Doctors performed the autopsy at 8.30 p.m. after obtaining special permission from district Collector B. Lakshmikantham, the forensic doctors said. The Patamata police said the special permission was taken anticipating law and order problem in the suspicious death of the student.

M. Mahesh, SFI State vice-president, told The Hindu on Saturday that the post-mortem was conducted in a hurry only to hush up the case and the body was shifted immediately on Friday night.

“The police, who acted with bias, arrested the agitating student leaders at Sri Chaitanya College. But not even a single case was filed against the college management or the principal. When there was no law and order problem in the city, why did the Collector give special permission,” SFI Krishna district secretary N. Someswara Rao asked.

Federation city unit secretary Koti alleged that the district officials and the police, instead of inquiring into the series of students’ suicides in the corporate colleges, colluded with the managements and were trying to suppress the suspicious deaths, and demanded to arrest the culprits immediately.

Meanwhile, leaders of the YSRC, SFI and other unions called for a State-wide educational institutions bandh on October 16, protesting against the suicides in corporate and private colleges.
