Trader, 23 goats perish in truck accident on Dhimbam Ghat Road

Coimbatore: A trader and 23 goats were killed when a truck turned turtle on Dhimbam Ghat Road near Sathyamangalam on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Velmurugan, 45. Four more people suffered minor injuries. Police said the truck laden with 124 goats was on its way to Coimbatore from Mysuru. When the truck reached the 19th hairpin bend of the Dhimbam Ghat Road, the driver Mahendran lost control of the vehicle which turned turtle. The trader Velmurugan died on the spot. As many as 23 goats were also killed in the mishap.

Murugan, Mohankumar, Shanmugam, Senthilkumar and three others were also travelling in the truck. Mahendran, Mohankumar, Shanmugam and Senthilkumar suffered severe injuries. More than 80 goats suffered minor injuries and immediately the animals were shifted to another mini truck and sent to Coimbatore.
The injured people were admitted at the government hospital at Sathyamangalam.
