HYDERABAD: The recent incessant rains across Greater Hyderabad is estimated to cost the corporation a sum of `78 crore towards repairs and recarpeting of roads. GHMC has identified damages on as many as 1,846 patches of roads covering an area of 7,89,215 sq mts.

Central zone tops the road damages followed by the South and West zones. The maintenance wing of GHMC identified badly damaged road patches in all the five zones of GHMC after the recent rains.
GHMC commissioner, B Janardhan Reddy reviewed the status of damaged roads with GHMC chief engineer (maintenance) and superinendent engineers and gave instructions to take up repairs in a time bound manner.

These works will be sanctioned immediately and the engineers have been instructed to take them urgently. He gave instructions to take up potholes fillings on all the main roads with bitumen mix on a mission mode, whereas repair works on damaged roads will be taken up once the rains subsides.
