Aditya Pancholi files defamation complaint against Kangana Ranaut, sister

Aditya Pancholi and wife file a defamation case against Kangana Ranaut and her sister.

Actor Aditya Pancholi has approached the Andheri metropolitan magistrate’s court alleging defamation by actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli. Pancholi has sought a complaint to be filed to initiate criminal proceedings against the two under sections 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code. He has claimed that Kangana made defamatory remarks against him while giving interviews recently to two news channels. He has also claimed that Kangana’s sister, Rangoli, had posted defamatory tweets against him and his wife.

Kangana had in her previous interviews spoken about her past relationship with Pancholi, stating that he was abusive. Advocate Shreya Shrivastav, representing Pancholi, confirmed that the petition was filed on Friday. She said the next date of hearing was in December.

“My client, who has been a victim in the entire episode, has largely spoken about her personal experiences and it has been reported on various media platforms since 2007. Besides, the law of the land does not give any added advantage to any male person to silence any (victim) woman with the threat of filing defamation proceedings against her,” advocate Rizwan Siddiqui, representing Kangana, said in a statement.
