George Clooney denies suppressing Vanessa Marquez’s harassment accusations

 

George Clooney says he had no idea about his ‘ER’ co-star, Vanessa Marquez being blacklisted from the show.

Hollywood star George Clooney has responded to the accusations made by his former ‘ER’ co-star Vanessa Marquez, who claimed that the actor helped perpetrators of sexual assault in Hollywood. Vanessa took to Twitter claiming George Clooney, 56, was to blame for her being “blacklisted” from the popular drama series in 1995, after she complained about sexual harassment on the sets. Marquez, 48, retweeted an article in which Clooney spoke out against Harvey Weinstein and the many sexual harassment allegations that have come out about him this week.

George Clooney, who played Douglas Ross on ‘ER’, has now responded to her claims saying he did not even know Vanessa Marquez was blacklisted in the first place. “I had no idea Vanessa was blacklisted. I take her at her word. I was not a writer or a producer or a director on that show. I had nothing to do with casting. I was an actor and only an actor,” he said.
He continued, “If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to. The fact that I couldn’t affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldn’t.” Vanessa Marquez played nurse Wendy Goldman on the first three seasons of the NBC show.

Various stories of sexual harassment have been coming up from Hollywood after Harvey Weinstein was fired from his own co-founded firm, ‘The Weinstein Company’ for sexual assault claims by actors like Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and others. Several Hollywood stars including Michael Moore, Oprah Winfrey, Heidi Klum, Tom Hanks, Ryan Gosling, Meryl Streep and many others have slammed producer Harvey Weinstein for his misconduct.
