TWO DAYS after five people were allegedly attacked by a mob comprising “15-20 people” in Faridabad for allegedly transporting “cow meat”, police have arrested three people in connection with the case.

Tests have, however, showed that the meat that was being carried belonged to a buffalo.

“We initially arrested two brothers, identified as Lakhan and Dileep — residents of Pir Colony in Pali. They were identified through some videos of the incident,” said Astha Modi, DCP (NIT).

“During questioning, They led us to a third accused, Ram Kumar, also a resident of Pali. He has been arrested,” added Modi.

The incident took place on Friday morning, when the autorickshaw a 14-year-old boy was travelling in was waylaid by six men in a Swift Dzire. The men, who confronted him, alleged he was carrying beef and took the autorickshaw driver, 27-year-old Azad, and the teenager to a cremation ground, where, along with several others, allegedly thrashed them for five hours.

The victims said three others, who came to rescue them, were also beaten up, police said, adding that their ordeal ended only when police arrived at the spot.
