Amrapali buyers to stage ‘nukkad natak’

NOIDA: After holding sit-down protests for over 60 days, homebuyers of various residential projects have now come together to script a nukkad natak or street play to highlight their woes.

They plan to put up a show at India Gate later this month, titled Amrapali Ka Nukkad Natak.

"Starting with the time when we were sold the flats to how we kept waiting till such time we realized that the houses are far from being delivered, until the insolvency bid against the builder. We will take all these twists and turns we have experienced with the builder in the past several years. The play will be staged at India Gate," Amit Gupta, a buyer and organizer of this play, said.

The buyers are now thinking of creative ways to stage protests as visiting ministers, law suits and other processes have failed to garner sympathy, he added.

"We want to be heard. We want to make noise, but we will not cry out slogans anymore. We will go all over NCR and stage plays, beat drums, sing songs and express the story of our woes," Gupta added.

"Today we have completed 68 continuous days of protest. We want to diversify our protests far and wide through legal measures as well as stage shows," Ashok Sarswat, one of the buyers, said.
