Jaipur: The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Sunday detained a passenger with Rs 23,48,000 and registered a case against him. Police have not ruled out the possibility of hawala trade. The matter is being investigated, they said.

The passenger arrived here from Lucknow by Marudhar Express and was going to Bikaner by bus when he was caught. Police have also informed the local income tax office about the case.

According to the police, the accused identified as Rajiv Bhantia was carrying a bag and seemed a bit apprehensive and nervous while his baggage was being scanned.

GRP also got inputs from the RPF staff about the suspicious nature of this passenger.

"We detained him and brought him to the police station and asked him about the source of cash. He was unable to give satisfactory reply on source of the cash. There is a possibility that he could be a hawala trader. We are investigating the matter and we have also informed the local income-tax unit," said Sampat Raj, station house officer, GRP, Jaipur.
