In a dream come true of sorts, a Muzaffarnagar girl was able to qualify and be appointed as a civil judge after clearing the exams as declared by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). She managed to achieve this despite facing a number of hardships. Becoming a judge for Anjum Saifi was significant not because it was her dream, but for the reason that it was her father’s last wish, who lost his life 25 years ago while fighting for a noble cause. Times Of India reports that Saifi was just four when her father’s bullet-riddled body was brought home in the year 1992. Rasheed Ahmad, her father had stood up against extortionists in a market where he used to run a hardware shop.

Ahmad was gunned down in broad daylight for standing up against goons who were trying to extract money from people. Today, Anjum recalls the faint memories of how her father used to ask her to become a judge. Dilshad Ahmad, Anjum’s eldest brother, 40, remained unmarried to bear the responsibilities of the family after the death of his father.

Dilshad reveals that the family went through a lot to see the realization of our dad’s dream. He says that family faced unspeakable hardships all these years. Anjum told TOI that her father died fighting for what was right and her only aim has been to uphold his values and keep people’s faith in righteousness intact.
