Kaun Banega Crorepati 9 tops TRP charts; Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 11 not in top-5

Amitabh Bachchan's dialogue from 1981's Kaalia, "Hum jaha khade ho jate hai, line wahin se shuru hoti hai", is a line that holds true for the star of the millennium in many ways. After ruling the Hindi film industry, Bachchan has had a successful stint on Indian television with Kaun Banega Crorepati when the show was launched in the year 2000.

Even 17 years later, KBC, in its ninth season, still has the same magic, and continues to rule the popularity charts on television.

According to BARC(Broadcast Audience Research Council, India), the agency which measures television audience viewership in India, for the last week (30 September-6 October), the Bachchan-hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati season 9 is the top-viewed show on Indian television. Not just that, the show has also catapulted the show's channel, Sony Entertainment Television to the top slot.

The show's producer, Siddhartha Basu tweeted on 12 October:

While KBC is making waves on TV, Salman Khan's Bigg Boss season 11 has not been able to grab enough eyeballs this time. With fewer celebrity guests in the house, audiences probably miss all the high-profile brawls, castigation, emotional fits etc. In the BARC's list, Bigg Boss finds no mention. The channel, Colors, has also stepped down from its usual numero uno position.
