Lulu kin likely to join BJP today

BHUBANESWAR: Putting all speculations to rest, the daughter and brother of late Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra are likely to join the BJP on Saturday. Lalatendu’s brother Lalitendu and daughter Upasana will join the saffron party along with a large number of their supporters.

Several leaders of Lulu Sena, a youth brigade owing allegiance to Lalatendu, are also likely to join BJP.  A large number of Congress leaders and workers of Brahmagiri constituency will also join.
The joining ceremony will be held at a special function at the exhibition ground here in the presence of several senior BJP leaders including, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Joining of Mohapatra’s family members in BJP will no doubt be a blow to the Congress in the State. It will decimate the Congress organisation in Brahmagiri and many areas of Puri district. Besides, BJP will also emerge as a challenge for former minister and BJD leader Sanjay Dasburma who represents Brahmagiri in the Assembly.
