Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a number of infrastructural projects at Mokama, a town about 100 km from the capital city of Patna.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a number of infrastructural projects at Mokama, a town about 100 km from the capital city of Patna. Speaking at the event, Modi said, “Nitish Kumar has an emotional attachment from this particular region, I respect that, and I promise that Central will walk shoulder to shoulder with Bihar Government”.
“Projects whose foundation stones are being laid will give impetus to Bihar’s development,” Modi added. He said that there have been people in our country whose ideology regressed the development of the nation. The prime minister also informed the gathering that four special trains so that people in Bihar and North-eastern UP won’t have any difficulty in reaching home for Diwali and Chhath.

Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari, who also holds the portfolio of water resources, said that Construction of four sewage treatment plants (STPs) and related works worth Rs 738.04 crore will also begin soon.

Earlier in the day, PM Narendra Modi addressed a gathering at Patna University. The prime minister lamented that no Indian university figures among the top 500 globally, and said the government intends to unshackle these institutions and provide Rs 10,000 crore to 20 varsities to ensure that they are counted among the best in the world.

Modi further said that measures like grant of central status were “a thing of the past” and his government has taken “a step forward” towards making 10 private universities and 10 government ones world class.

“My government took an important step towards unshackling the IIMs, freeing them from the clutches of restrictions and regulations set by the government,” Modi was quoted as saying by PTI.
