Nagpur: 'Ambedkarwadi Jalsa', presented by 31 members of Bahujan Rangbhumi Group at Deekshabhoomi on Saturday, was a tribute to completion of 61 years of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar embracing Buddhism along with more than 5 lakh followers.
Virendra Ganvir, president, Bahujan Rangbhumi told TOI that, "Jalsa is an art form which is partially lost and not properly promoted. It is a good blend of music and drama and was used to bring about revolution. Sadly, the current generation is not aware of it."
The group, standing in a circle, shouted slogans, sang revolutionary songs, clapped and danced with the same energy throughout their performance lasting for half an hour. Starting with the song 'Le mashale', the group conveyed Ambedkarite thoughts.
The group also performed at Chandramani Square, Shivangaon Buddha Vihar, Samvidhan Square and Trisharan Square the same day.
