Channapatna MLA C P Yogeeshwara on Saturday quit the primary membership of the Congress and despatched his resignation letter to KPCC president G Parameshwara.
Yogeeshwara won the 2013 Assembly election from Channaptna in Ramanagaram district on the Samajwadi Party ticket and later joined the Congress. He is likely to join either the BJP or the JD(S) in the run up to the Assembly poll.
Yogeeshwara has blamed interference by his long-time political rival Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, and his brother Congress MP D K Suresh for quitting the party.
