Samsung had launched the Galaxy J3 (2016) back in January 2016. Almost two years since its release, the smartphone has started receiving Android Nougat update.
Before you get your hopes up, let us give you the details. American telecommunication company AT&T is the reason why the smartphone is being upgraded to Android Nougat. Only AT&T customers who own the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) are eligible to receive the update. The carrier has already started rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update from October 11.
Since the update is being rolled out in phases, it will take a few days to arrive on all the eligible devices. After the arrival, Galaxy J3 (2016) owners will be able to enjoy all the usual features of Android Nougat.
The new features include split-screen multitasking, more customizable quick settings, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications and recent applications window extended battery life, and more.
Save for that, the addition of the Quick Reply feature will let users reply from the notification bar itself without opening any app. Under the hood, Google also incorporated new and improved features that would result in a better device performance and battery life.
The update also includes the Android security patch for September. Well, better late than never. Moreover, the update brings the fix for BlueBorne vulnerability and adds video calling as well as Wi-Fi calling facilities for the users.
While the update enhances the overall user experience for Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) owners, its size could be an issue. Major updates to the Android operating system usually are more than 1GB in size. So users have to make sure that their phones have sufficient storage space. Also, before initiating the update installation, users are recommended to charge their devices.
