Greater Noida: A 30-year-old assistant librarian of a nursing institute consumed poison on Saturday afternoon alleging that the management arbitrarily withheld her three months' salary in Greater Noida.
The woman, a resident of Sector Beta II, works at Kailash Institute in Greater Noida. She was rushed to a private hospital where doctors administered medicines and she is now out of danger.
The woman said she had been working for the last 18 months at the Institute's library, located in Knowledge Park. "The institute management has been troubling and harassing me unnecessarily. They have not given my salary for the last three months," she said.
The woman reached the institute on Saturday afternoon and got into a heated argument with management officials over the issue. She then took out a poisonous substance from her bag and consumed it. Hansraj Bhadauriya, station officer of Knowledge Park police station, said a police team reached the spot and rushed her to Kailash Hospital. "The doctors immediately administered her medicines and said she is out of danger. Examination revealed she had consumed a substance used for hair dye," he said.
However, the management said there was an internal inquiry against her for a mobile theft. Sandeep Goyal, the institute's director, said a student had reported a mobile theft in the library a few days ago. "We launched an investigation and scanned footage from the CCTV cameras. The cameras were fixed in a position that could not cover the theft spot. But the cameras at the exit/entry point captured two suspects and an investigation was launched," he said.
Goyal said the management withheld her 'one-month salary' till the investigation was over.
A police team reached the spot to investigate the matter. The management officials and the police in the evening held a meeting and the management paid the woman her salary. Bhadauriya said the woman has not filed any written complaint in this regard.
The woman has been removed from her post by the management after clearing her salary dues.
