Mining truckers reject CM’s rate on ore transport

Ponda: The all Goa truck owners' association has threatened that they will stop mining trucks if the state government tries to start transporting ore by creating a split among truck owners. Addressing reporters at Ponda on Saturday, association president Nilkanth Gawas alleged that the government is trying to create a split among truckers by forming new organisations. Responding to the rate hike suggested by CM Manohar Parrikar, Gawas said they are not happy with the rate. "We want Rs 14 for transportation for a distance of 20km and above," Gawas said.

Claiming that the government is planning to start transporting ore by hiring truckers by splitting the umbrella organisation, Gawas has threatened that they will stop the trucks. Association member Shivdas Madkar criticized the government on its condition to allow only three trucks per family.
