Fuel VAT to be cut based on financial health: BJP

Jaisalmer: The decision to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel will be taken after considering the financial condition of Rajasthan as done in other states, BJP president Ashok Parnami said in Jaisalmer on Saturday.

There was a debt of Rs 2.20 lakh crore on the state so the final decision will be taken by chief minister Vasundhara Raje, he added.

Parnami was in Jaisalmer on Saturday to attend BJP's district work committee meeting. He was visiting Jaisalmer for the first time after BJP coming into power.

Asked about resentment among business class over GST he said that to strengthen the economic situation, GST was implemented. There are some problems but in next 3-4 months all businessmen will be in favour of it.

Asked about party workers being unhappy with the present government, then how will BJP form government in the coming elections, he said party workers are disciplined and they come forward for building country and work to bring smile on the faces of the poor. He said that workers are ready with CM's vision for 180 seats in assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats. On the question of political appointments still not made, he said 100 percent appointments cannot take place.

Replying to a query on increasing women atrocities, Parnami said that there has been a decline in atrocities on women.

During Congress rule, Rajasthan was on third position in women atrocities and now it is on fifth position. A lot of work has been done for farmers as earlier compensation was given on 50% crop damage but now it is given on 33% damage, he said.

On water shortage in Indira Gandhi canal project, he said Rajasthan is not getting the amount of water that it should get from Punjab and Haryana but still efforts are being made to give more water to Jaisalmer farmers.
