In the civic bypoll, the ruling BJP in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday managed to retain the Koregaon Park-Ghorpadi seat, which was vacated due to the death of deputy mayor Navnath Kamble. Himali Kamble, daughter of Navnath Kamble, contested the bypoll on a BJP ticket and received 7,899 votes. She defeated NCP candidate Dhananjay Gaikwad by 4,483 votes. He received 3,416 votes.

The BJP tried to get Himali elected unopposed in the civic bypoll and appealed all the political parties to support Himali, who was contesting on the seat that got vacated after her father’s death. However, the NCP contested the civic bypoll saying it was contesting against the BJP and if they had not contested the elections, then it would send a wrong signal.
