Akshay Kumar will sound different in Rajinikanth-Shankar’s 2.0

Akshay Kumar will be playing a villain in his debut Kollywood film 2.0. Helmed by Shankar, the magnum opus also stars Superstar Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson. The film is being produced at a budget of Rs 400 crores making it one of the most expensive movies in Asia.

Looks like Akshay Kumar is experimenting with not just his looks for 2.0. The Bollywood actor who will be donning an alien avatar for Rajinikanth-Shankar project will also sound different for the movie. According to a report in DNA, the actor’s voice is being enhanced using technology to create a different sound that suits his role in the film. Notably, Akshay will speak for himself in the Hindi version while his part will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu.

“We are working on it. After struggling for weeks, Shankar and I have discovered a method. We are not fully satisfied with the voice quality yet. In a while, we will get the perfect voice and pitch for Akshay,” said Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty to DNA.

2.0 marks Akshay’s Kollywood debut and is also the first time he is essaying the role of an antagonist. The film is one of the costliest projects in Asia with a budget of Rs 400 crores. Apart from Rajinikanth and Akshay, Amy Jackson is also part of the magnum opus. Shot directly in 3D, the film is sure to be a visual spectacle with Shankar behind the scenes.

Music for 2.0 will be launched at a grand event in Dubai while the teaser will be launched on November 22 in Hyderabad. The makers have also said that the trailer will be launched on Rajinikanth’s birthday which falls on December 12.
