Man sets wife ablaze for denying money for liquor

RAJKOT: A 32-year-old woman and mother of four, was set ablaze allegedly by her husband for stopping the latter from selling and drinking liquor in Vadadhara village of Muli taluka in Surendranagar late night on Wednesday.
The woman, Rekha Dudhreja suffered nearly 60% burns and is admitted to Rajkot Civil Hospital. In her statement to police, Rekha said that on Wednesday night she had a tiff with her husband Chandu (35) over drinking and selling liquor.
Chandu in a fit of anger doused her with kerosene and set her ablaze and escaped. Rekha told police that Chandu was addicted to liquor since many years and used to demand money for it often. However, off late Chandu had ventured into the business of bootlegging which Rekha wanted him to stop.
Based on Rekha's statement police has booked Chandu for attempt to murder and launched a probe.
