NEW DELHI: Shares of Bharti Airtel (number of shares traded: 0.69 crore), Bharti Infratel (0.44 crore) and Reliance Industries (0.30 crore) were trading as the most active stocks in terms of volume on NSE in Friday's early trade.

Other major stocks in the league were Idea Cellular (0.26 crore), Vedanta (0.25 crore), Hindalco Industries (0.19 crore), State Bank of India (0.15 crore), ICICI Bank (0.11 crore), YES Bank (0.11 crore), Tata Steel (0.09 crore), PFC (0.09 crore) and Tata Motors (0.09 crore).

Equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex registered a strong opening today, with the Sensex rising over 200 points and Nifty50 climbing above 10,160-level.

The Nifty50 index was 50 points up at 10,146, while the 30-share Sensex was 164 points up at 32,346 around 9.45 am (IST).

Bank, metal and IT stocks were contributing to the market rally.

In the Nifty index, Bharti Airtel (up 7.38 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 3.81 per cent), YES Bank (up 1.77 per cent), UltraTech Cement (up 1.36 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 1.25 per cent), Tata Steel (up 1.21 per cent), Cipla (up 1.06 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services (up 1.05 per cent) were trading as the top gainers.

Hindalco Industries (down 1.02 per cent), GAIL (India) (down 0.91 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 0.60 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 0.58 per cent) and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (down 0.56 per cent) were trading in the red.

On the NSE, 966 stocks were advancing, compared with 544 stocks declining and 451 stocks remaining unchanged.
