Social media ‘curbs’ on govt staff

Jaipur: The state's department of personnel reminded government employees of disciplinary action under the conduct rules for undignified and improper comments made against the government on social media.

Under the All India Service Rules 1968 and Rajasthan Service Rules 1971, there is a clear provision which forbids government officials and employees from making undignified and improper comments, the department said.

According to the rules, employees cannot criticize and comment on policies and programmes of the government. However, it has been observed that many employees are not following these rules and posting improper comments against other officials and employees on the social media.

"It is again brought to the notice of such employees that no employee could make false, baseless, defamatory observations or comments against any individual, party or institutions publically. If any employee was found violating these rules would be taken to task," the government warned.
