Jaisalmer: Revenue minister Amraram on Friday expressed inability in allotting land to the 25 Langa Manganiyar families that had left their village in Jaisalmer following the alleged murder of a folk singer of their community by a temple priest.
Dozens of Langa Manganiyars met the revenue minister and submitted a memorandum to get rehabilitated in Jaisalmer on Thursday.
On Friday, the minister said it is not in his power to allot land and asked the families to return to their village, Dantal. Amraram assured the families that he would speak to CM Vasundhara Raje over the issue. District collector K C Meena also told the families that there was no legal provision to allot them land.
Disappointed with the minister's reply, the families have called a community meeting on Saturday. Gunasar Lok Sangeet Sansthan president Bax Khan said people would gather from nearby areas and final decision will be taken as to what should be the future course of action.
Collector Meena said he was keeping a watch over the entire incident and if anybody threatens the families then strict action will be taken against them.
