Panaji: Locals from Anjuna on Thursday night spotted a suspicious fiber canoe a few meters away from Curlies shack, but police have not been able to trace it. Police said around 7.45pm on Thursday, locals who run the water sports business spotted it near Anjuna beach. They immediately alerted the coastal police and also the Anjuna police. Sources said there was no registration number visible on the canoe. Police said by the time they reached the spot to verify the information, the canoe had left the shore. Some people claimed that there were two persons in the canoe, police said.
"We are verifying whether those persons have visited the shacks for food," a police officer said. Police have alerted the coast guard and the Navy to trace the canoe.
