Darjeeling: Darjeeling is once again on the boil with clashes between Gorkha Janmukti Morcha supporters and police. Unconfirmed sources state that a police officer died from firing and many others are injured. A Morcha supporter is also believed to be dead.
Unconfirmed reports state that a police contingent was ambushed at Limboo bustee near Burnesbeg Tea Garden area in a wooded area called Baghkhor on the road to Patleybash, a Morcha stronghold where Gurung resides.
Police were on the hunt for Bimal Gurung who is believed to be hiding there. A police vehicle is believed to have been torched.
Police also had information that there is an improvised arms manufacturing unit operational in this area.
Uncormed sources state that the deceased is ASI Amitava Mullick. Police have cordoned off the area. Firing is stil on between the two sides.
Police have preferred to remain tightlipped.
