Sports Mininster Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore made a surprise visit to Jaipur’s Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium and conducting an inspection regarding basic facilities provided to the sportspersons for training, ground facilities and food. After his inspection, he found that the place wasn’t clean and the food wasn’t up to the expected standard.

Rathore posted few pictures of him speaking to the coaches and ground staff and stated, “Neither food is good nor place is clean. Whatever Sports Authority of India can do will be done immediately. A sports ecosystem is not complete unless it takes care of fans. Committed to improving facilities for them too, at Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium.”

Rathore has urged officials of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), which maintains the stadium, to ensure that the conditions of the stadium should be improved, the food and place should be cleaned.

Rathore, the 2004 Athens Olympic silver medallist in double trap shooting, also inspected the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium a month back, where he urged the SAI officials to ensure the best facilities for FIFA U-17 World Cup. Recently, Rathore also introduced his “Khelo India” programme which focuses on spotting 1000 children from school games and funding them by distributing Rs 5 lakh every year, till eight years.

The 47-year-old Rathore was appointed as Sports Minister in September and prior to that served as Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting.
