Pro Kabaddi 2017: Gujarat Fortunegiants, Bengal Warriors continue winning run

Gujarat Fortunegiants and Bengal Warriors strengthened their lead at the top in their respective groups with wins over Puneri Paltan and Tamil Thalaivas.

Maninder Singh scored 12 points in Bengal Warriors’ win over Tamil Thalaivas.

Puneri Paltan failed to kickstart their home leg on a positive note as they went down 20-44 against table-toppers Gujarat Fortunegiants on Friday. Both teams started strong before Sukesh Hegde led from the front and gave Gujarat an upper hand against Pune. Gujarat took the lead and maintained their lead throughout the match. Sukesh scored his maiden Super 10 of the season and was well supported by the other players. In the second match, Bengal Warriors rode on Maninder Singh’s performance to strengthen their lead in Zone B. Deepak Hooda-led Pune have already qualified for the playoffs bu stand a chance to dethrone Gujarat from the top of Zone A if they manage to win all their remaining games. They next face U Mumba in the third Maharashtran derby of the season.
