Pakistan's Election Commission slaps non-bailable arrest warrant against PTI Chairman Imran Khan

The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a non-bailable warrant against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in contempt of court case on Thursday.The cricketer-turned-politician was slapped with charges for “repeatedly failing to appear for the hearing and for failing to send a written apology for absence in court”.
According to a report by the News International, The chief election commissioner, heading a five-member bench, ordered to produce the PTI chief before the court after arrest in the next hearing fixed for Oct 26.
PTI spokesperson Naeemul Haq said the party will challenge the warrant in the Islamabad High Court, as reported by the Dawn news.
