As speculated Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, but decided to leave the state Power Minister Thangamani.

During the period of alleged cold war between CM Edapadi K Palanisamy and Deputy CM OPS, the latter decided to pay a visit to Delhi and meet the Prime Minister Modi. OPS left around 6.30pm on Wednesday along with Team OPS's original members, Maithreyan, Manoj K Pandian and KP Munusamy. He met with the PM around 11am and presented a copy of memorandum carrying 12 points of which the first point was to increase allocation of coal to TANGEDCO thermal power stations.

The fact here is, though OPS went on to meet PM on the pretext of getting more coal for the power stations, the state's Electricity Minister Thangamani, who has been with Team EPS and also was one of the architects of EPS-OPS merger, was kept away from the meeting.  No explanation was given as why Thangamani was left out for the meeting.  This incident almost proved the theory of a harsh cold war going on between EPS and OPS where the latter has allegedly complained of being given no importance in the governance.

However, in an attempt to silence the rumours, OPS stated that nothing political was discussed with the PM.

"There are no difference of opinions between me and CM EPS. He discusses with me before taking any decisions. No more fissures can come up inside the party. From now on, on can rise from the bottom tier of the party," OPS stated.

If anything had to be done with allocating coal for thermal power stations, the right person to meet would have been Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who is in-charge of coal as well, but no information was given if anyone from the group had met with him.

Meanwhile, Power Minister Thangamani met with Defence Minister Nirmala Seetharaman, but the details of the meet was not shared.
