Shiv Sena leader absconding after his car mows down two teenaged girls in Maharashtra's Baramati

A car belonging to a Shiv Sena leader on Thursday ran over and killed two teenaged girls on the Baramati-Morgaon Road in Maharashtra, according to reports.

CNN-News18 reported that the car belonged to Shiv Sena's Baramati chief Pappu Mane. The news channel also said that while it was unclear whether Mane was driving the car himself, he had fled from the spot after the accident and was now absconding.

However, Times Now reported that Mane himself was driving the car and also said that apart from him, there were two other people in the car.

According to CNN-News18, the incident took place at 7.40 am on Thursday when three girls were walking home. Two of them, aged 12 and 13, died on the spot after being hit by the car.

Both the news channels reported that angry locals burnt the Shiv Sena leader's car after the incident.

The police are registering a case and are currently searching for Mane.
