GURUGRAM: The district administration has issued guidelines for the use of firecrackers during Diwali. The guidelines were issued a day after section 144 was imposed in Gurugram. The guidelines prescribed the timing from 6pm to 10pm for bursting the firecrackers and also defined the areas for the same.

On Wednesday, Gurugram's deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh had prohibited the sales of firecrackers in the district. Also, enforcement teams were formed to check upon the shops illegally selling the firecrackers.

Now, the administration has prescribed nine guidelines for the use of the firecrackers by those who had already purchased the same before the conditional verdict by the apex court. The guidelines said that the one who has purchased the crackers earlier may use them in the given time frame.

Besides this, bursting of rockets, fast moving surrey is not allowed considering their dangerous nature and high level of smoke emission.

The use of firecrackers generating noise levels exceeding 125 decibel (a) or 145 decibel (c) at a distance of four meters from the point of bursting is prohibited.

The firecrackers will not be allowed to be used at any time in the silence zones. The bursting is prohibited in 100 meters from Hospitals, Educational Institutions, court, religious places etc.

Also, bursting of firecrackers will not be allowed within 500 meters of Indane Bottling Plant in Badshahpur. Similarly, 100 meter area around petrol pumps, CNG stations and Gas godown will be prohibited.

Users of crackers will have to keep a bucket full of each water and sand along with them to deal with any fire related emergency.

The fire department too will have to keep the fire tenders on standby to deal with any mishaps.

In case of an accident due to crackers or fireworks, all hospitals, dispensaries and nursing homes should be available to the injured people.

"The concerned officers have been directed to monitor their jurisdictions on Diwali, on the basis of the following guidelines," said Singh.
