Ashish Nehra confirms cricket retirement, ‘wanted to go when still at top’
Ashish Nehra on Thursday confirmed that he will quit all forms of international cricket and he has informed Indian captain Virat Kohli about it. He will play his final international in Delhi on November 1

Ashish Nehra confirmed on Thursday that he will be retiring from all forms of cricket after the first Twenty20 international between India and New Zealand at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla on November 1.
“It can’t get bigger than this. Retiring at my home ground is big. I wanted to retire while I am still on top. It’s good if you retire when people ask ‘why’ and not when they start saying ‘why not’,” said the veteran pacer from Delhi.

“When I was selected for this series, I informed Virat (Kohli) and coach (Ravi) Shastri that I think Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) and (Jasprit) Bumrah are doing really well. And that this is the right time for me to go.”
Ashish Nehra made his senior debut for India during the Test series against Sri Lanka in 1999 and helped the Indian cricket team reach the 2003 World Cup final. The 38-year-old has been plagued by injuries and last played for India in February.
Ashish Nehra has collected 44 Test, 157 one-day international and 34 Twenty20 wickets in his 18-year international career. Nehra also played for four teams in the Indian Premier League from 2012-16.
