US medical technology firm Boston Scientific Corporation has appointed Warren Wang as its senior vice president and president, Asia Pacific, effective January 1, 2018. He will succeed Supratim Bose, who is expected to retire at the end of this year as executive vice president and president for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) regions.

Wang will serve as a member of the Boston Scientific executive committee and be responsible for overseeing the company’s continued growth in the Asia Pacific region, according to a release by the company. He joined Boston Scientific in 2012 as vice president and managing director for China and currently serves as president and managing director for the firm’s North Asia region, which includes China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea.

“The opportunities and complexities of the Asia Pacific healthcare market offer new inroads and alternatives in the advancement of market-appropriate medical technology and access to high-quality care,” said Mike Mahoney, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Boston Scientific. “Warren’s experience and keen sense for developing new business collaborations have had a strong influence on our growth in North Asia.”

The AMEA region has grown “significantly” over the last five years under Supratim’s leadership, according to Mahoney.

Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Wang held roles with the medical device businesses of Johnson & Johnson, including general manager of the Orthopedics group in China and leadership positions in the company’s surgical and orthopedics franchises.
