BHUBANESWAR: Launching yet another salvo at the BJP without naming it, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said an uneasy atmosphere is prevailing in the country.
Targeting the saffron party for the second time during BJD’s annual Jana Sampark Padayatra in the city, the Chief Minister said a sense of uncertainty has gripped the nation for the wrong policy of national parties and this is not in the greater interest of the people.
Paying rich tributes to Lok Nayak Jayprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary, the Chief Minister said national political parties are working exactly the opposite of the democratic values for which the great freedom fighter had fought all along his life. The time has come that all should work dedicatedly to realise his goals, Naveen added. On September 8, the Chief Minister had lashed out at the BJP saying national parties have always disappointed Odisha and they are working for party’s interest by destroying the federal structure of the country.
Reiterating his party’s commitment for progress of the State, the Chief Minister said, “BJD is not a political party, but the hope and aspiration of the people of Odisha.”
Alleging that national parties are misleading the people by giving a wrong picture of development, Naveen on the 10th day of his party’s public contact programme said the BJD will continue to work for the development of the State and welfare of its people.
“The party, formed to carry forward the ideology of Biju Babu, is committed for development of 4.5 crore Odia people. Some of our welfare programmes have now become a model in the country,” Naveen said.
Claiming that his Government has started a new era of development in the State, the Chief Minister said Odisha has become a role model for other States for its various welfare measures.
Asserting that his party is fully committed to provide land and property rights to slum dwellers, Naveen said, “We fulfilled our commitment by handing over flats to them on Gandhi Jayanti and that was the happiest moment of my life.”
