Royal Enfield drives into Vietnam, to sell 3 models

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

has forayed into Vietnam -- the world's fourth-largest market.

The company will sell three of its popular models -- 500, Classic 500 and the Continental GT 535 cc -- through its first flagship store in Ho Chi Minh City.

"The company endeavours to reinvent and lead the global mid-sized segment, and South-East is a critical market for us in this global strategy," President Rudratej (Rudy) Singh said in a statement today.

Vietnam has a large young population who commute on two- wheelers and is now aspiring to adopt the right medium of self-expression and exploration, he added.

"We hope to fuel the culture of exploration and leisure motorcycling with some of our best motorcycles in Vietnam," Singh said.

Royal Enfield, part of Eicher Motors, is focusing on south-east Asian countries as part of its strategy to expand the mid-sized segment (250-750cc) across the globe.

The company already has presence in Indonesia through two exclusive stores in Jakarta and Bali and also has the first exclusive gear store outside India in Jakarta.

It also has an exclusive store in Bangkok in Thailand.
