Saligao: Residents of Mollem Bhat, Saligao, have lodged a complaint with Saligao police about hill cutting being undertaken in the ward for the purpose of constructing illegal houses.
The activity is under way in survey numbers 134/7 and 132/1, residents stated.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, Saligao police inspected the site and have written to the town and country planning (TCP) department to take action against the illegal activity.
Saligao PI Sandesh Chodankar said that the complaint has been signed by 12 residents staying in the vicinity of Mollem bhat in Saligao.
"As the TCP is the deciding authority, Saligao police have written to the TCP to book an offence against the culprit as per the TCP Act," Chodankar said.
Sources at Saligao police station told TOI that the construction was allegedly being done by executing a false power of attorney.
