ALLAHABAD: The authorities at the Allahabad University have issued notice to two ABVP student leaders for not obeying instructions ahead of the AUSU elections.
Priyanka Singh and Nirbhay Dwivedi have filed their nominations for the post of president and general secretary respectively.
As per the notices issued by the chief proctor Prof RS Dubey, the candidates have been found of disobeying the instructions from the varsity and district administration in respect to setting up their election office on the GN Jha hostel premises.
"Priyanka and the other candidate of the post of general secretary have been issued notice as they have not removed the pandal, posters and banner from the hostel and they are using the same as election office. We have issued warning to both of them that their act of not adhering to the instructions could land them in trouble and their candidature can be cancelled in future," said Prof Dubey.
He further said,"we visited the hostel premises in the evening and found that the pandel (tent) of these two is still there along with all the campaigning martials which violates the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee. These candidates didn't pay any heed to our warning too following which we have issued the notice."
A copy of the notice has also been sent to the returning officer, other officials of AU associated with student union elections and also to the senior officials of the police and district administration.
Commenting on the notice, Priyanka Singh said, "one that I have not received any such notice and second AU authorities can issue notice and take any action on me as the candidate and not against an organization, and the pandal, of which AU may be referring, has been set up by ABVP and not by me, personally."
