Gur prices close steady on small buying support

Quiet conditions were depicted at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today as prices continued to hover in a tight range on scattered deals and closed at the previous levels.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a similar tone on sporadic buying by stockists.


Marketmen said adequate stocks and scattered buying mainly kept gur prices unaltered.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,800-3,900, pedi Rs 3,800-3,900, dhayya Rs 3,900-4,000 and shakkar Rs 4,000-4,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,700-2,750, chakku Rs 3,800-3,950, khurpa Rs 3,500-3,550 and Ladoo Rs 3,800- 3,850.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,500-3,600 and dhayya Rs 3,600- 3,650.
