Two youths in Rajasthan's Nagaur district were stripped naked and thrashed on the orders of a khap panchayat, which found them guilty of eloping with a minor girl.
A shocking case of a khap panchayat in Rajasthan's Nagaur district taking the law in its own hands has come to light.
The panchayat took it upon itself to punish two youths after it considered them guilty of eloping with a minor girl.
The boys were not only stripped naked and subsequently thrashed, but also forced to wear a garland made of shoes. Thereafter, they were paraded around the field carrying shoes on their head. Their hair were chopped off. They were allowed to go only on the condition that they would not report the incident to the police.
NO FIR REGISTERED SO FAR
The district police has so far not registered any FIR in the matter. Even though the incident took place some 20 days ago, it came to the fore only after a video that caught the act went viral.
The incident happened in September this year. The two boys, who belong to the Tankla Kalan village, allegedly hoodwinked a girl into running away with them. However, the girl was found soon after. The villagers subsequently arrested the boys and summoned the khap panchayat, which decided to sit in judgement on the fate of the two boys.
The khap panchayat set them free after subjecting them to torture and on the condition that they would not do so again. The relatives of the boys have so far neither registered any police complaint into the matter neither nor do they want to speak about it.
