Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today laid foundation of a road to improve connectivity and communication in the Barak Valley.
The chief minister laid the foundation of the 16-km project for the upgradation and improvement of Silchar-Kumbhirgram road from Gossaipur point of Mahasadak to Kumbhirgram airport at Udharbond in Cachar district.
"The state government is committed to improve connectivity of the Barak Valley region as it is putting special emphasis to improve the road conditions including laying new network of roads in the districts," the chief minister said.
The state government was according importance to the improvement of roads in the Barak Valley for economic development in the region, he said.
