Nanded civic polls Live Updates: Voting for crucial Nanded-Waghala Municipal Corporation will be held today. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP is taking on Congress and Shiv Sena. Fadnavis had claimed that voting for the Shiv Sena, ruling ally of the BJP in Centre and state governments, would mean bringing the Congress to power according to reports. The Chief Minister had asserted that entire Maharashtra was standing behind the BJP. On the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray had dared the BJP to resign from the Maharashtra government and face mid term polls. Congress is leaving no stone unturned as sitting MP and party stalwart Ashok Chavan has parked himself in the constituency to ensure that his party retains the civic body. It has been learnt that Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines would be used in a single ward, the State Election Commission of Maharashtra (SECM) had said. Election Commissioner J S Saharia said VVPAT machines attached to electronic voting machines would be used in ward number 2 on pilot basis. On October 12, counting of votes in this ward will be done twice — through EVMs as well as VVPAT machines, the report says.
