Delhi, Kerala team up for cultural heritage festival

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal will share the stage at the Kerala Delhi Cultural Heritage Festival, for which the two states have teamed up, on Saturday. The festival, being organised by the Kerala government with support from the Delhi government, will be held at several venues in the capital, including Kerala House, NDMC Hall and Connaught Place Central Park, from October 14-16.

BJP MP from New Delhi Meenakshi Lekhi is also expected to attend. The three-day fest includes programmes on language, culture, tradition, art and literature. Kejriwal and Vijayan had met at a breakfast meeting in April this year, following which the Delhi CM had spoken about the need for “all good people” in politics to come together to fight the BJP.

A part of the festival will be an exhibition of archaeology, archives and museums. A demonstration of ‘Kalaripayattu’ (sword fight) will be performed by C V N Kalari of Madhav Madom on Sunday. The festival will also include ‘Poothapattu’ (visualisation of a classic poem, Song about the demon), Mohiniyattam, and Galaxy of Musicians — a journey through the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma on the last day.
