Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today set November 15 as the deadline for completion of all ongoing road construction projects of the three districts of Barak Valley.
"Roads are a vital link for smooth communication. The ongoing road construction projects must be executed expeditiously so that people can see the real face of development", the Chief Minister said while chairing a review meeting on the status of implementation of PWD road projects in the valley.
All stakeholders involved in the construction works will ensure that the projects are completed on or before November 15 ahead of the Namami Barak festival, he said.
The Chief Minister further asked Deputy Commissioners of the three districts to discuss with forest officials and the contractors to solve the bottlenecks which are delaying the construction works of the roads.
The Chief Minister further asked the PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya to keep a close watch on the road construction work and informed that he would review the progress after 15 days.
The review meeting was also attended by Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dilip Kumar Paul, MLAs of the region, Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, PWD and Forest officials as well as the contractors associated with the projects.
